Dr Paul Williams
PhD Clinical Psychology, BPSYC (Hons I w/University Medal), MAPS

Dr Paul Williams grew up in Sydney and began his working life running an industrial business, co-owned with his younger brother. After growing the business for several years, he relocated to Newcastle and began a Bachelor of Psychology. Four years later he graduated from the University of Newcastle (UoN) with first class honours and the University Medal.

Dr Paul Williams subsequently completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology. He is now a board endorsed Clinical Psychologist and has extensive experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, and families on all range of problems. Dr Paul Williams remains an active researcher aligned with UoN Cognition Laboratory, as a Conjoint Lecturer. His primary research explores the impact of recent success and failure on performance, and how mental health interacts with these phenomena. He has received several awards for his academic and clinical accomplishments. You can view a list of his academic research articles here. He also enjoys sharing his experience with the community as a media contributor, both print and radio. 

Outside of work, Dr Paul Williams is a besotted father and husband, an enthusiastic foodie, a terrible mid- and long-distance runner, and an opinionated ex-sportsman. He resides near his wife’s family on the Central Coast of NSW.
